Who is the Rueful Rabbit?

I'm Dublin based and I've been playing bridge for 20 years, winning 10 national pairs and teams titles. At the moment, due to the joys of family life I play most of my bridge on Bridge Base Online (BBO) rather than in my local Regent and Bankers bridge clubs.

I've been very fortunate during my bridge career to have played with people who are great mentors and offered me an increasing insight on the game. It is this wisdom that I want to pass on to a wider audience who may not have the same access to expert opinion.

Aside from playing bridge, I have an interest in system design. This prompted me to create Bridge Hand Pro - the world's first searchable bidding database using data from BBO viewgraph.

The Rueful Rabbit for those who don't know, is a character in Victor Mollo's bridge books. The Rabbit is constantly making the most ludicrous errors in bidding and play, but a guardian angel makes sure that, as the cards lie, whatever the Rabbit does turns out for the best.

I really enjoyed Mollo's books and particularly like the rabbit character. I used the name when I started an anonymous bridge blog a few years ago. The idea being to raise peoples interest by keeping people guessing.
